Marcia Legister
I am the proud founder and CEO of Maci's Authentic Rum Cakes Ltd. Born and raised in Brixton, Southwest London, descendent of parents who are from the organically rich in culture and majestic, beautiful Caribbean islands of Jamaica and Barbados.
Wife mother grandmother aunt and friend to an exceptional group of wonderful human beings which I am proud to call my family.
My passion for baking originally came from a place of sadness, after being subjected to a succession of family bereavements, it was in these moments that my creative gene kicked in! Maci’s soon became a hobby of interest, which later developed into a small family run black owned business.
This materialised through the support of both family and friends who began to promote our product firstly by word of mouth which then gradually progressed to social media platforms like Instagram Facebook & WhatsApp
An ever-increasing demand for our cakes highlighted the fact that this idea was no longer just a hobby, but indeed a new business venture, which was sort after by diverse groups of people from all walks of life.
Taking the decision to bake, gave me a sense of peace and brought great joy into my life. A joy which has now been extensively shared to a wide audience of people. My mission and life’s passion is to be able to share my gift of baking and eventually teach others about the historical art and fundamentals of Caribbean cake making as far and wide a field as we can go!

Who Is Maci’s?
We are a family run home baking business, established in 2021, In the vibrant diverse community of Lewisham, Southeast London, who specializes in creating beautifully handcrafted succulent moist and very delicious authentic flavoured traditional Caribbean rum infused cakes.
Our very humble cake journey began after I was given a slice of rum cake, that made me feel like something was missing, the taste and texture wasn’t quite there for me. This prompter me to bake my own rum cake, experimenting with textures and flavours. Our cakes soon began to take on a life of their own through friends and family who were willing to taste and promote our cakes via word of mouth.
In September 2021, from home we officially started our small black owned business on a part time basis. We first entered the consumer market by formally taking cake orders from our home-base, we achieved this by word of mouth and promoting our business on various social media platforms.
Maci’s was later to be invited to attend the reopening of Camberwell Green Urban Farmers Market, based in the SE5 area of Southeast London. We were able to corner an small area in the market for undressed rum infused cakes, our profound taste texture and appearance of our product has become our unique selling point. We now have regular customers from all walks of life who come back week after week to purchase our cakes.
